Keep Your Garden Clean

Having a garden in your home is a great idea. The only problem, however, is that an area like this usually requires a lot of time and effort to be clean and in order. It doesn’t matter if you have a lawn or a garden with flowers, you have to regularly clean and spray it with different kinds of pesticides and herbicides, in order to get rid of the unpleasant and sometimes even dangerous insects and weeds.

All of those poisonous chemicals can be threatening not only for the organisms in question but also for other living creatures and for your health as well. Fortunately, there are many ways you can reduce the usage of those substances and still be able to keep your garden clean and organized.

The pesticides and herbicides are special products designed to kill any harmful pests and weeds in the gardens. In order to deal with them, those products have to be extremely strong and to contain a lot of poisonous chemicals which can travel easily to every corner of the garden.

Even if you are very careful, the risk of intoxication still exists, especially if you spend a lot of time in the sprayed areas. It is essential to try and reduce the usage of those substances and that could be easily achieved in several ways.

Keep your garden healthy

It is proven that people who keep their gardens in good shape with a regular cleaning don’t have to deal so often with unwanted insects and weeds. So, the first and most important thing you have to do is to create a schedule for the cleaning of your garden. It doesn’t matter how you organize it, as long as your garden receives your constant cares, preferably on a daily basis. If that seems impossible for you, you can always ask someone to give you a hand.

Substitute the plants

The store-bought plant might look prettier but that doesn’t mean that they are resistant. The native plants, on the other hand, have stronger protection against all types of pests and insects because they are constantly dealing with them in the natural environment. If you are starting to notice that your current plants are being repeatedly attacked, don’t turn to the pesticides. Instead replace those plants with natives.

Search for natural alternatives

Today most people prefer to use natural products because they are not only healthier but also cheaper. So, why spend so much on poisonous chemicals, when you can easily prepare mixtures with natural ingredients which will have the same effect and won’t endanger your health?

One well-known recipe for those of you who have problems with mites includes water, several drops of dish soap and two tablespoons with pepper sauce mixed in a bottle. After only one spraying, you will get rid of those troublemakers.

The garlic spray is another good option, in case you want to keep every kind of insects away from your plants. Just blend a cup of vegetable oil with a couple of pressed garlic heads in a vessel and then leave it in the refrigerator for a few days. Once the garlic smell of the mix becomes strong enough, your substance is ready. Remove the garlic and put what’s left in a spray bottle along with couple glasses of water and feel free to use it any time you notice uninvited visitors in your garden.

As you can see with a couple of useful tricks your garden will be clean and pesticides-free for good. Even though the gardening and the cleaning can be exhausting sometimes, the important thing to remember is that a good looking garden will freshen up the appearance of your home and will make you very happy.
